AWS

Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a major hyperscale cloud provider and one of the world's largest data center operators. In the networking domain, AWS developed the SRD (Scalable Reliable Datagram) protocol as a proprietary alternative to RoCEv2, notable for its packet-spraying approach — distributing packets across available network paths rather than maintaining order. SRD was among the earliest published examples of hyperscalers diverging from standard RoCEv2 before the Ultra Ethernet Consortium provided an industry-standard alternative.
