CJ Newburn

Overview

CJ Newburn is a data center architect specializing in IO, who describes his role as looking one to two years ahead to identify the technology gaps that will hurt the industry if not pursued early: "That's kind of my job description is to look ahead and figure out what's going to kill us in a year or two." At the 2025 OCP Global Summit he co-presented the GPU-initiated storage and SCADA (Scaled Accelerated Data Access) effort with Vikram Mailthody, framing the work as reinventing the GPU so it is not only an intense compute engine but can also extend to data applications — opening new markets and applications.
