Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult
Overview
UK independent not-for-profit accelerating cell and gene therapy delivery to patients worldwide through early-stage translation, manufacturing development with automation partners, and a hospital network for clinical implementation standards. The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult is an independent UK not-for-profit with a mission to deliver cell and gene therapies to patients throughout the world, operating across four areas: early-stage technology translation to commercial product, process and clinical development, manufacturing development using IT and automation technologies (including work with Cellular Origins and Ori Biotech), and a hospital network for developing standards and implementation knowledge. The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult released a consultation paper on rare diseases as part of the UK MHRA's progressive regulatory engagement, which Matthew Dy describes as enabling use of prior knowledge to inform regulatory decisions without repeating all experiments — a major inflection point for rare disease advanced therapies.
