HVDC Power Distribution

Overview

HVDC (High Voltage DC) power distribution has been introduced into AI server racks to address the need for higher power density and efficiency at the rack level. As rack-level AI accelerator power exceeds the practical limits of traditional AC power distribution, HVDC architectures (typically 400V or 800V DC) provide higher conversion efficiency, modular power management, safety, and redundancy for racks approaching and exceeding 100 kW per rack. HVDC is now considered a standard design requirement for next-generation AI rack deployments alongside advanced liquid cooling.
