Jean-Marie Verdun
Overview
Jean-Marie Verdun is a Senior Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), responsible for identifying technologies the company will need in the next two-to-three years and integrating them into HPE's product portfolio. He is a co-creator of the DC-MHS (Data Center Modular Hardware Servers) specification, which was developed alongside other OCP founding contributors to enable easier integration of diverse chip architectures including ARM and NVIDIA GPGPUs. Verdun is also a firmware engineer and co-leader of the OCP Open Platform Firmware (OPF) work group, where he advocates for shifting the firmware community's focus from chip-level to system-level management. He is particularly concerned with the gap between DC-MHS compliance claims and actual cross-vendor interoperability — testing revealed that HPE's DC-MHS designs are not interoperable with competitors' designs despite both following OCP specifications.
