Overview

Keith D Underwood is Senior Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). He presented the Ultra Ethernet Consortium's "Escaping the Chaos of Order" session at OCP Global Summit 2025, making the technical case for why ordered network transports are architecturally self-defeating and why UEC's clean-slate design resolves these limitations. Underwood was present at the creation of the libfabric API and personally attests that it was designed to be connectionless from the start — and that the connection-oriented path through libfabric is essentially unused in practice.
