Overview

Kevin Brandt is a Systems Architect at Micron Technology specializing in NVMe SSD telemetry and OCP standardization. He led Micron's transition away from fully proprietary NVMe SSD debug logs — which required pulling binary data from customers with proprietary tools — to OCP-standardized, human-readable telemetry parsed with the open-source nvme-cli command and its OCP plugin. To make that workflow practical, Brandt drove Micron's contribution of code to the OCP nvme-cli plugin, adding a pre-pull methodology for the C9h strings file that decouples it from time-critical telemetry collection and supports distributed debug across separate systems. At OCP Global Summit 2025 he called on the community to sign the feedback CLA, contribute improvements to the nvme-cli OCP plugin on GitHub, and bring proposals for wider NVMe-CLI adoption across host ecosystems.
