LPDDR6

Overview

LPDDR6 (Low Power Double Data Rate 6) is the next generation of low-power DRAM, designed for both mobile/edge devices and AI server applications. Samsung's LPDDR6 delivers 10.7 Gbps per-pin speed with 114.1 GB/s aggregate bandwidth — the highest bandwidth of any mobile DRAM generation — while improving power efficiency by 20% compared with LPDDR5X. The design supports up to 50% more I/O pins to sustain peak bandwidth, extends battery life in mobile devices, and reduces power consumption in AI server environments.

LPDDR6 occupies a distinct market position between high-bandwidth HBM (GPU-attached) and high-capacity DDR5 (server main memory): it targets on-device AI inference at the edge, compact AI server configurations, and use cases where power budget is a first-class constraint. Samsung also positions LPDDR6 as a suitable substrate for Processing-in-Memory implementations.
