Marvell
Overview
Marvell Technology is a semiconductor company that designs switching ASICs, optical interconnect DSPs, and data infrastructure silicon. In the networking space, Marvell's Teralynx switch ASIC family competes in the data center Ethernet switching market, while its Inphi-heritage PAM4 and coherent DSP platforms make it the leading independent supplier of optical interconnect silicon. At Computex 2026, CEO Matt Murphy presented Marvell's decade-long transformation from a $2.3B consumer-oriented company to a $11.4B data infrastructure pure-play (>75% data center revenue, ~40% annual growth), anchored by ~$36B total committed capital including the Inphi ($10B), Celestial AI, and Xconn acquisitions. Murphy's central thesis — that connectivity, not compute or memory, is now the defining AI bottleneck — was validated on stage by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, backed by NVIDIA's $2B strategic investment in Marvell.
At the 2023 OCP Global Summit, Marvell proposed Flow Path Routing (FPR), a source-routing approach for AI training fabrics that leverages SDN controller knowledge of job placement to pre-program network paths, eliminating per-hop lookup latency in fabric switches.
