Summary
Megmeet, a top-three global power supply company ($1.1 billion revenue, approximately 10,000 employees with 35% in R&D, established in Shenzhen in 2003), presents its 800V DC 1 MW sidecar power system for AI data centers developed in close collaboration with NVIDIA. The solution fits a complete 1 MW power system into a single standard 19-inch 48U rack, consisting of: 7U AC PDU (fuses) at top, 14U power shelves in the middle, and 27U for BBU (battery backup) or PCS (power capacitor shelf) at bottom.
The architecture flows from three-phase AC (480 Vac, 200A via 7 AC connectors and 480 Vac, 125A via 14 AC connectors) through the AC PDU into 14 power shelves, which convert AC to 800V DC on a busbar (CLIP 800V, 500A). The DC PDU (contactors and fuses) then distributes via 8 DC connectors (800V, 120A each) to IT loads. Each 1U power shelf contains two 36 kW power supplies; in 2U configuration this yields 144 kW AC-to-800V DC conversion at 98% efficiency with CANbus communication. The BBU provides 40 kW for 60 seconds or 30 kW for 90 seconds per 1U module. For the IT rack side, an 800V-to-50V intermediate bus converter (approximately 3x3 inches, liquid-cooled, 90 kW per 1U) handles the step-down since server PDBs still operate at 50V. The recommended architecture separates BBU from the power rack into a different zone for safety/fire concerns, with an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) power shelf enabling alternate sourcing between AC and HVDC upon failure. Samples planned for Q1 2026 with mass production targeting mid-2026.
