Meta
Overview
Meta Platforms is a hyperscale data center operator and one of the founding forces behind the Open Compute Project, which originated from Meta's (then Facebook's) decision to open-source its data center designs in 2011. Meta operates a global network of data centers supporting its social media platforms and increasingly large AI training and inference workloads. The company's hardware and infrastructure teams continue to be among the most active contributors to open data center standards.
At the 2025 OCP Global Summit, Meta's contributions focused on DC automation and power architecture. The company co-leads the DC Automation workstream, with Eric Xu (Robotics Engineering Manager) serving as both moderator and co-lead. Meta brought multiple presenters to the automation panel covering security controls and facility inspection use cases, reflecting the company's substantial investment in robotics for data center operations. Meta is also a co-leader on the Mont Diablo sidecar power rack workstream and the Power sub-project.
