Overview

The OIF (Optical Internetworking Forum) is an industry body that develops optical transport standards. IOWN Global Forum acknowledges OIF (alongside Open ROADM and TIP Open Optical Packet Transport) as productive organizations that have delivered important technology standards to industry. However, IOWN's position is that all such organizations operate within the constraints of today's all-IP architecture, producing layer-bound improvements that fail to fully unlock the performance and efficiency potential of evolving optical transport technologies.
