Overview

Gene editing company founded on the prime editing platform; cleared its first IND for a CD34 prime edited cell therapy in 2024 and subsequently pivoted the pipeline after achieving proof-of-concept clinical data in two patients. Prime Medicine was founded around 2020 on the prime editing platform, with Andrew Anzalone as a co-founder who developed the technology in David Liu's laboratory; the first publication appeared at the end of 2019. When Ann Lee joined Prime Medicine approximately five years ago, the company had 18 pipeline programs; a subsequent indications day generated 153 additional program concepts, reflecting the breadth of the prime editing platform.
