SK hynix

Overview

SK hynix is a South Korean semiconductor company and major NAND flash and DRAM manufacturer. As of October 2025, the company is expanding its enterprise storage portfolio beyond conventional SSDs with the AIN (AI NAND) Family — three product lines purpose-built for AI inference workloads. The AIN P targets ultra-high IOPS vector database search (50M IOPS at 512-byte access on PCIe Gen6, 7x conventional Gen6 eSSD), AIN B delivers HBM-like bandwidth with SSD-like capacity by stacking up to 16 NAND dies on a base/logic die, and AIN D is a JEDEC NL-SSD replacement for NL-HDD in capacity-dense, power-constrained racks.

SK hynix's product roadmap calls for an AIN P E3.x form-factor proof-of-concept sample by end of 2026 and a 100M IOPS mass-production-capable product by end of 2027. The longer-term direction is a tightly integrated architecture combining AIN P, AIN B, xPU, and HBM in a single unified AI memory and storage platform — moving away from loosely connected discrete components.
