Overview

Approach to embedding environmental sustainability into product and process design from the outset of development — enabling lower carbon footprints at launch and aligning sustainability with core business metrics for commercial advantage. Building sustainability in from the outset of drug development means new pipeline products enter the market with a far lower carbon footprint than their predecessors, using biosolvents, renewable site energy, and solvent recycling as foundational considerations. Selecting supplier sites with renewable electricity, clean heat, and solvent recycling capability — and verifying no human rights issues — is a core part of sustainability-by-design applied to procurement rather than limiting sustainability to the company's own manufacturing operations.
