Tomahawk 6
Overview
Tomahawk 6 (TH6) is Broadcom's sixth-generation Ethernet switch ASIC and the world's first 100 terabit non-blocking switch, delivering 102.4Tbps of full-duplex switching capacity. With 2,355 billion transistors, it represents another doubling in silicon density along Broadcom's consistent two-year cadence (from Tomahawk 1 at 3T in 2014 through TH5 at 51T). Tomahawk 6 began sampling in June 2025, with production deployment starting in early 2026.
The defining architectural significance of TH6 is topological: it is the only current switch ASIC that enables a two-tier network architecture for clusters of up to 128,000 GPUs. With prior 51T switches (TH5), a three-tier topology was required at this scale. TH6's two-tier topology reduces power, latency, and optics by more than 40%, while also simplifying load balancing and congestion management.
