nvme-cli OCP Plugin
Overview
The nvme-cli OCP Plugin is the open-source plugin to the Linux nvme-cli command-line tool that enables standardized NVMe SSD telemetry collection and human-readable decode per the OCP Data Center NVMe SSD specification. Versions of nvme-cli >= 2.10 support the OCP plugin; version 2.15 is recommended for OCP telemetry debug, while version 2.11 must be avoided because of a segmentation fault. The plugin's main gaps are platform coverage and forward compatibility: it is absent on Windows, which prevents customers from using Windows as a log-pull platform and blocks the distributed decode workflow where binaries pulled on Linux systems are decoded on Windows; and as new OCP DC NVMe spec versions are released, plugins must be kept future-compatible, warning the user when they decode a drive designed for a newer spec than the plugin supports. Micron contributed code to the plugin separating the time-critical telemetry binary pull from the non-time-critical C9h strings file pre-pull, enabling distributed debug across different systems.
