Anthropic

Overview

Anthropic is a frontier AI safety company that develops the Claude family of large language models and Claude Code, an agentic coding tool. Claude Opus 4.7 is referenced by Karpathy as a state-of-the-art model exemplifying both the extraordinary capabilities and jagged limitations of frontier LLMs.

In early 2026, Anthropic acquired Coefficient Bio, a clinical development reasoning AI tool co-founded by Samuel Stanton and Joyce Hong. Anthropic's life science team is led by Jonah Cool. The company's three-pronged life science strategy is: improve Claude for life science, build the right tools, and demonstrate capabilities. Approximately 75% of its pharma partnerships are inbound; roughly 25% are proactively sought. Anthropic is not becoming a pharma company despite the acquisition. Claude is cited by multiple UNLOCK 2026 speakers as their primary AI assistant in scientific workflows.
