EDSFF
Overview
EDSFF (Enterprise and Datacenter SSD Form Factor) is the standardized family of datacenter SSD form factors — including E1.S, E1.L, E2, and E3 — with connectors and cables defined by SFF-TA specifications. At the 2025 OCP Global Summit, the EDSFF family saw a busy year of changes spanning the newly ratified E2 high-capacity form factor, EDSFF connector improvements, new and updated cable specifications, and reworked E1.S/E1.L power definitions. The form factors are positioned to complement one another — E1.S for high-density compute storage and E2 for high capacity — and the spec family's next problems are standardizing SSD liquid cooling and preparing for PCIe 7.0.
