PCIe 7.0
Overview
PCIe 7.0 is the next PCIe generation, framed at the 2025 OCP Global Summit as a major upcoming challenge for EDSFF. It will push the Nyquist signaling frequency up to 32 gigahertz, bringing more transmission-line loss and crosstalk that present serious signal-integrity challenges for SSDs. Panelists urged the industry to begin solving these signal-integrity and insertion-loss budget problems now, across system, connector, and device vendors. PCIe 7.0 is expected to require changes across the base/connector spec SFF-TA-1002, the device spec SFF-TA-1009, and cable specs SFF-TA-1016 and SFF-TA-1035.
