Overview

Esha Choukse is a Principal Researcher at Microsoft who developed the Firefly software mitigation for power swing reduction in AI training data centers. She co-presented the power stabilization research at OCP Global Summit 2025, covering Firefly's design (running a secondary power-hungry workload during low-power training communication phases using NVIDIA MPS), its achievable performance impact (<5% on the primary training job), power swing reduction to below 5% TDP, and the millisecond-level GPU activity telemetry infrastructure required for the control loop. She also covered the rack-level energy storage solution and the overall mitigation comparison framework.
