FIO

Overview

FIO is the open-source flexible I/O benchmarking tool into which SanDisk integrated Sprandom, its fast pseudo-random SSD preconditioning method. The Sprandom code is available in FIO version 3.41, having been merged at the end of August 2025, and is usable by anyone who checks out and compiles the latest source. Feedback, questions, and bug reports for Sprandom are handled through the FIO GitHub repository, which has dedicated Q&A and discussion sections.
