OCP CL Lab
Overview
The OCP CL lab was among the first to try Sprandom, the fast pseudo-random SSD preconditioning method developed by SanDisk. In December 2024 the lab tested it on a 64-terabyte drive running in an absolute steady state. There, sequential preconditioning took about 6 hours and conventional random preconditioning took roughly 138 hours, which Sprandom reduced to about 7 hours — the best-case result cited in SanDisk's OCP Global Summit presentation.
