Open BMC
Overview
Open BMC is an open-source baseboard management controller (BMC) firmware platform that provides server management capabilities through standardized APIs, most notably Redfish. In complex AI GPU rack systems, Open BMC enables diagnosis automation by unifying monitoring across all three server operational stages — pre-boot (state register reads via I2C, SGPL, GPL, USB), booting (BIOS post codes via SSIF), and post-boot (log collection and PCI bus analysis) — under a single Redfish interface instead of disparate bus protocols.
Aivres deploys Open BMC with Redfish to automate server diagnosis and replace manual multi-protocol troubleshooting; the BMC interface provides live GPU temperature dashboards, device health status, a Server RAS catalog (error logs, system impacts, event handling), a Telemetry catalog (Redfish API descriptions for device telemetries), and firmware update capability via PLDM Type 5, Redfish, and IPMI interfaces. In-node leakage detection sensors are also integrated into the BMC platform firmware layer.
