Vineet Parekh
Overview
Vineet Parekh is a storage engineer at Meta who has spent several years pushing for SSD debug features to improve drive debugability across Meta's production fleet. He drove adoption of the OCP NVMe Latency Monitoring feature, which gives SSD-side capture of tail-latency events that host-level kernel monitoring missed. At OCP Global Summit 2025 he presented the first public fleet-wide stall data from Latency Monitoring: across an 8-day sample period, 6,700 distinct drives (counted once each, not duplicated) exhibited stall events with I/O latency over 1 second. Parekh framed even a 1% problem as significant at hyperscale and stated his goal that by the next OCP Summit Meta would be confident it had eliminated the latency-stall problem from its fleet.
