Xaira Therapeutics is an AI drug discovery company that builds therapeutic programs and AI models simultaneously. Its organizational structure reflects this dual mandate, with teams spanning hyperbiology, biomedical AI, protein design, and patient models. Key leaders include Ci Chu (SVP AI-Enabled Discovery / Hyperbiology) and Bo Wang (SVP & Head of Biomedical AI), who originally developed scGPT at the University of Toronto before joining Xaira.

Xaira's core virtual cell model, X-Cell, is a diffusion language model trained on perturbative causal data. The company has released two large-scale single-cell datasets — X-Atlas Orion (June 2025, 80,000+ downloads) and X-Atlas Pisces (March 2026, ~26M cells, approximately 3x the size of Orion, covering multi-context iPSC lineages). Both datasets are free for academic use; commercial licenses are available.
