Overview

9elements GmbH (Cyber Security) is a German firmware and cybersecurity company co-founded by Christian Walter, who serves as its Managing Director. The company co-founded the Open Source Firmware Foundation (OSFF) alongside Siemens approximately 3–4 years before the 2025 OCP summit, providing governance, funding, and standardization coordination for open-source firmware projects. In the MiTAC ecosystem model, 9elements acts as the ISV partner enabling CSP customers to continue sustaining their datacenter firmware solutions for more than 10 years post-warranty. The company is also a co-participant in the OCP OPF openSFI specification development.
