Divya Ramakrishnan

Overview

Divya Ramakrishnan is Sr. Director of Hardware Engineering at NVIDIA and presented the GPU Min Power Floor (MPF) / power smoothing feature at OCP Global Summit 2025 as part of the Microsoft-NVIDIA-OpenAI cross-company power stabilization research collaboration. The feature, deployed on Blackwell (GB200) products, constrains GPU power within a programmable band using a hardware-level bounding box controller (ceiling via power capping, floor via new circuitry burning energy) and a ramp rate controller. With the feature deployed, AI training data centers achieve a 20% power swing at scale versus the near-100% oscillations observed without it. Ramakrishnan also explained the cumulative hardware lifetime constraints of the floor circuitry and the in-band (developer) / out-of-band (cloud operator) programmability model.
