Eddie Ruan

Overview

Eddie Ruan is Director of ALiNOS at Alibaba Group, where he leads development of ALiNOS, Alibaba's SONiC-based network operating system. At OCP Global Summit 2025, Ruan joined Cisco's Rakesh Chopra on stage to co-announce the QuantumCat switch: a 128×400G QSFP112, 4RU device running ALiNOS and powered by the Cisco Silicon One P200 as a silicon-only engagement. He confirmed that Alibaba has a large existing nationwide deployment of Cisco Q200-based DCI infrastructure and plans to extend that fleet to P200 — not only for DCI but also to replace chassis-based core network equipment with fixed pizza-box switches. The QuantumCat was physically present and functional at the OCP booth during the summit.
