Foxconn
Overview
Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) is the world's largest electronics contract manufacturer, responsible for assembling a significant share of global consumer electronics and AI server hardware. In the generative AI era, Foxconn is pursuing a strategic transformation from Manufacturing Service Company to Platform Service Company, targeting three AI-powered verticals: Smart Manufacturing, Smart EV, and Smart City — all underpinned by the FoxBrain in-house foundation model.
Foxconn built the DGX H100 and DGX NVL72 AI servers for major tech companies, enabling those customers to train foundation models at scale. Applying the same infrastructure internally, Foxconn operates a 100 MW data center using NVIDIA H100, GB200 NVL72, and GB300 NVL72 GPUs as the training cluster for FoxBrain. After a three-year effort collecting manufacturing-domain data and provisioning compute, the AI Research Center (led by Dr. Yong Lee and Dr. Chen) released FoxBrain 70B — a model that achieves top position on Taiwan MMLU+ (66-subject Traditional Chinese benchmark) and outperforms Meta-Llama-3.1-70B-Instruct on Taiwan-MTBench in math (85.0%), STEM (56.7%), and reasoning (78.3%). The guiding strategic principle is "AI Manufactures AI": AI-generated synthetic data and AI-driven quality control feed the next generation of the model.
