Iceotope
Overview
Iceotope is a precision immersion cooling company that circulates a small amount of environmentally safe mineral oil within IT enclosures (servers, network devices, power supplies) to achieve 100% thermal efficiency across the entire IT stack. Unlike full-tank immersion — which the company regards as non-viable despite significant industry investment — Iceotope's approach retains conventional rack architecture while eliminating fans entirely.
Rack capacity progression by cooling type (as presented at OCP Global Summit 2025): air cooling ~10 kW usable compute, rear door heat exchanger ~28 kW, cold plate + RDHX hybrid ~120 kW, Iceotope alone ~280 kW (300 kW without rear door HX), and Iceotope + cold plate ~950 kW+ per rack. Customers have reported zero performance degradation during full HVAC failures and hot-weather outages — a resilience impossible with air cooling.
Iceotope has worked for over a decade with hyperscalers, OEMs, and silicon companies. Over 5 years before the 2025 OCP presentation, Iceotope partnered with Meta to build a liquid-immersed JBOD storage system with hot-swappable spinning drives in direct dielectric fluid contact, achieving a 30% reduction in drive failure from eliminated fan vibration. As of 2025, Iceotope and Solidigm have joint customers deploying Iceotope servers with Solidigm liquid-cooled SSDs.
