Overview

Perplexity is an AI company best known for its AI-powered search product, and increasingly for Perplexity Computer — an AI operating system launched in February 2026 that creates a team of up to 20 AI agents, orchestrates across models, tools, and files, and operates as a model-agnostic agentic harness. The Perplexity Computer is designed for hybrid agentic inference: local models on-device handle private or sensitive data, while cloud models handle non-sensitive research tasks, routing decisions made automatically.

At Computex 2026, Perplexity appeared as a partner in both the Intel and Qualcomm keynotes, demonstrating its position as a cross-platform agentic software provider targeting both x86 and Arm edge silicon.
