Charles

Overview

Charles is a security expert at Google who presented the OCP L.O.C.K. and TCG MEK-MPA material at the storage session of the 2025 OCP Global Summit, before opening to a Q&A panel alongside fellow Google engineer Jeff. He walked through the multi-party authorization management model, the TCG MEK-MPA provisioning flow for the global range, and lock's Caliptra-based key management concepts. Charles framed multi-party authorization around mutually distrustful entities — for example a cloud service provider that verifies hardware and firmware and a customer VM that verifies software state — which must each authorize independently because they "do not want to have to share secret material across their organizational boundaries."
