Jabil

Overview

Jabil is a US-based electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company founded in 1966 in Michigan by James and Bill (the company name is a portmanteau of their first names). With $29.8B in FY25 revenue and 140,000+ employees across 25+ countries, Jabil operates three segments of roughly $10B each: Regulated (healthcare, automotive), Retail (consumer goods), and Intelligent Infrastructure (servers, storage, AI, networking, data centers). The Intelligent Infrastructure segment ships more than 750,000 L10 servers and 25,000+ L11 racks annually.

Jabil differentiates from traditional OEMs and ODMs by occupying a JDM middle ground: it accepts customer blueprints, co-designs hardware, or builds white-box servers, and can stand up production close to customers' end users across 100+ worldwide manufacturing sites. Key global sites include San Jose (NPI), Memphis, Kentucky, Dublin, Tiszaújváros (Hungary), Guadalajara (~1–1.5M sq ft mega-site), Singapore, and Wuxi, plus design centers in Austin and Taipei. In response to tariff-driven reshoring demand, Jabil added US capacity in Salt Lake City and Richardson TX, and broke ground on a 422,000 sq ft facility (up to 80 MW) in North Carolina.

Jabil is a design board member for the OCP Modular Hardware System (MHS) standard. Its building-block catalog spans three MHS layers: HPM Components (AMD SP5/SP8, Intel SP BHS/OKS, SP7, Ampere, BMC/DC-SCM), Rear Chassis (FLW, SDNO, ORv3 2-OU/1-OU), and Front Chassis (U.2, E3.S, GPU/AI, E1.S). Products showcased at OCP Summit 2025 included the 'Bandera' server (S-DNO building blocks), J422-G (GPU front end for AI inferencing), a CPO Switch (OCP's first open CPO switch design), and the J3220R-DFM 'Endurance' chassis based on T22 GLC.
