MOSE

Overview

MOSE is a cable and connector supplier offering a mass-production hybrid orthogonal cable solution for EDSFF backplanes. Presented at the 2025 OCP Global Summit by product manager Arthur, MOSE's solution routes high-speed signals through a cable to a silver SFF-TA-1002 connector while sideband, clock, and power travel through a cheap 4-layer FR4 backplane. The design keeps a 29mm width regardless of whether it uses a 1C (44.3mm) or 2C (59.7mm) TA-1002 connector, saving space without relocating the backplane or motherboard, and supports a minimum 9.3mm pitch enabling up to 44 E3 devices. Its topology aligns with Intel Gen 6 topology, letting a single reusable 4-layer FR4 backplane serve E1, E2, and E3 across Gen 5 to Gen 7 by only swapping the cable. The solution is already in mass production with many by-16 and by-8 channel-split configurations.
