Hancock Chang
Overview
Hancock Chang is Director of Solution Enabling at MiTAC Computing Technology Corp., where he leads the company's open-source firmware ecosystem strategy. He is a vocal advocate for community-driven firmware development, arguing that vendor lock-in, CVE responsiveness, and data-center lifecycles exceeding 7–10 years make the transition to open-source firmware inevitable and necessary. Chang led MiTAC's commitment to publish its OpenBMC/OPF codebase (MiTAC-MioBMC) on GitHub and to run CI/CD pipelines across OpenBMC and Open Platform Firmware on all MiTAC products. He also championed MiTAC's engineering contribution to the OCP OPF openSFI proof-of-concept, iterating the Vendor Adapter Layer (VAL) specification from v0.3 through v1.0 in partnership with AMD, 9elements, and other OPF members.
